Before beginning this course, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you download/pring the corresponding Study Guide to complete while viewing the videos.   Registered/paid students no longer have to mail in your completed Study Guide, but simply take the Final Exam to qualify for transcript credit.

The General Epistles are books in the New Testament in the form of letters. They are termed "general" because for the most part their intended audience seems to be Christians in general rather than individual persons or congregations as is the case with the Pauline epistles.

Listed in order of their appearance in the New Testament, the General Epistles are:

  • Epistle of James
  • First Epistle of Peter
  • Second Epistle of Peter
  • First Epistle of John
  • Second Epistle of John
  • Third Epistle of John
  • Epistle of Jude

Additionally, some scholars include the Book of Hebrews as falling within this group.

General Epistles

Different from the Pauline epistles written by the Apostle Paul, the General Epistles are those letters (scriptures) written by various authors to different churches within the early church, which include the Books of 1st Peter, 2nd Peter, James, 1st John, 2nd John, 3rd John, and Jude.  Registered/paid students must view all videos listed below for this 12-lesson course and complete a Final Exam.  This course is valued at one (1) transcript credit for registered/paid students.
